Stephenie vs. Sarah

I still can't quite get into The Host. I am about 53 pages in and it still annoys me. The story is tolerable so I can only conclude it is the writing. I had started two other books. One was A Piece of Work which I enjoyed. The other was recommended by Anth. Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen.

I loved this book right from the beginning. It was magical and romantic. Everyone ends up "perfectly" happy in the end. An ideal girl book.



FYI-It does have some swearing and sexual content.

It's nothing against you Stephenie

Maybe it's the way you have all e's and no a in your name. I don't know but I just started The Host hoping to be pleasantly surprised but so far I can barely get through the book. The prologue made me want to gag.

I am not very far into this book and I can't stand it. I am trying to figure out what I hate about it. Possibly the author. I am not sure. I am going to give it a hundred pages because it is for bookclub. I'll just call my niece and have her tell me how it ends. Sorry to all my friends who love it.

Right now I am reading this book to two of my kids. One is 8 and one is almost 10. The 10 year old has read it before. I read this book as a kid and it is my favorite of all the Chronicles. I enjoy Digory's character.

The Eyre Affair

I am still in the progress of reading this book but I have to say it's one of the few books that I decidedly like before I finish it. It's "zany" with all kinds of characters. The main character's name is Friday Next which gives you an idea of where it might head. It reminds me of an old movie which I love. I hope it stays interesting and I am glad it's part of series. If there is any swearing I don't remember so it's clean that way.



I own this copy and wouldn't mind lending it once I have finished.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

I really enjoyed read this book. I felt like I was going in circles the whole time keeping up with where the main character was and where he was going. I liked how he explained that all people have free will even though he knows what will happen in the future when he travels to the past. I actually got drawn to the book because of other reviews describing a beautiful love story. I enjoyed every aspect of the love between Henry and Clare. It was amazing that the story took you from the beginning to the end of both their lives.



A warning for those who do like like swearing or sex scenes this book contains both. I didn't like the frequent swearing but was able read around it. Those who are very conservative in both or one of these areas will not like this book.

I Finished!

I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Everyone told me that it was great and definitely not disappointing. I was worried for a little while because I thought maybe Harry would die. I was going to be really disappointed if he died. I enjoyed how everything came together and especially how Neville was the hero in the end. Even Professor Trelawney got a chance to be useful. It was a fun read and the good guy won in the end. I can't believe I finished all of the books and I really had never planned on reading them. Thanks to Anth for telling me I must read them. The first one was so good that I had to keep going. I am completely amazed at J. K. Rowling and her ability to keep such detailed and exciting story going for seven books.
